The Choir of London
operated from 2004 to 2016,
a flexible community
of musicians dedicated to creating change.
The Choir of London toured six times to the Middle East, focused on the Occupied Palestinian
Territories,
engaging with over 2000 local and visiting musicians, hosting festivals that
inspired communities
and empowering young musicians through learning.
The Choir of London gave outstanding professional musicians a chance
to contribute their time and skills to charitable work, and
harnessed the energy of these musicians to develop access to music in places
that needed it most;
and it was a charitable trust committed to helping Palestine’s musicians
take their place on the world stage.
Between 2004–2016 the Choir of London performed and produced more than
100 concerts
in the UK and internationally, raising awareness for its charitable
vision.
It established a Bursary Scheme for the best young Palestinian musicians
to experience musical life in the UK.
And it generated, stimulated and enabled cultural transformation in the
areas where it worked,
contributing to a revolution in musical life in Palestine.
