Benefit concert for Medical Aid for Palestine

On 13th July 2007, the Choir of London was invited to perform in an emergency fundraising concert in aid of Medical Aid for Palestinians UK at the Union Chapel, Islington. The concert was organised in response to a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and funds raised were used to assist Medical Aid for Palestinians UK in their work bringing relief to those suffering from from the conflicts arising in the Palestinian Territories as a result of the latest political instability. The concert featured a variety of artists of widely varying backgrounds, including traditional Palestinian dance troupe Al-Zatytoona, the Israeli jazz musician Gilad Atzmon, ’oud player Nizar al-Issa and Palestinian writer Iqbal Tamimi. The Choir of London (conducted by Jeremy Summerly) contributed an a cappella programme which included some works which they had recently performed during the Palestine Mozart Festival.
