December 2006 saw the Choir of London make a first appearance alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of John Rutter, the UK’s best-known choral composer and conductor. The RPO’s annual contribution to London’s Christmas festivities, these concerts were staged at Westminster Central Hall and featured solos by Clara Sanabras and George Humphreys, from the Choir of London. They proved to be as popular as ever, with a combined audience of over 4,000 attending to two back-to-back performances, which featured world premieres of Rutter’s I Wish You Christmas and of his arrangements of El Noi de la Mare and Esta Noche. See the full programme of the concert here.

Shortly before Christmas 2007, the Choir joined John Rutter and the RPO again, this time for the Choir’s debut performance at the Royal Albert Hall. Enormously popular as ever, the concerts also featured soprano soloist Elin Manahan Thomas, whose debut CD was released to critical acclaim earlier in the year, and Farnham Youth Choir. The performances included the world premiere of John Rutter’s arrangement of the traditional song Nos Galan. Click here to see the full programme of the concert.
